As a Warwick student ambassador, I often get asked on campus tours why I felt Warwick was the one and when I knew this was the place for me. Quite honestly, I felt it from the moment I came for an open day back in 2017 as a prospective student. Apart from the course really interesting me and stimulating me to want to be a part of the learning community, Warwick’s campus itself also really impressed me and these are my reasons why. If you are still trying to decide which university is for you, I hope this helps in answering some questions and give you a better virtual understanding of Warwick.

When I first visited the campus itself, it made me feel at home and three years later still makes me feel at home. I looked at all other city universities and visited Warwick last and knew straight away that a campus university was for me. When living on campus in first year I immediately felt safe and protected. The beauty of living on campus, especially in first year, is having everything you need so close by. I had the bus interchange, restaurants, shops, on campus night club, cafes and the library just a short walk away. Everything is very easy to find and located in walking distance when you are living on campus. The beautiful space and land on campus also made the walks around campus really enjoyable. Nothing was too far to walk to which makes it a whole lot safer.

The facilities on campus also blew me away when comparing them to what I had seen at other university open days. The new Faculty of Arts Building is one that has been a £57.5 million investment and due to open 2021/22; this is very exciting for faculty of arts students to have an incredibly new and modern building to learn in. This building is just a touch of Warwick’s great investments and new buildings like the Sports and Wellness Hub and the new Arts Centre. The Faculty of Arts Building is a space for teaching, seminars, social and learning spaces with amazing views from its eight storeys overlooking beautiful landscapes.

The beautiful green campus that Warwick is blew me away and I knew instantly that this was the place for me. A campus where I felt at home with all the space of greenery and tranquillity. Feeling at home also came with Warwick’s on campus accommodation which I also really enjoyed looking around on a campus tour when I was a prospective student. Now looking back, I can honestly say my first year in campus accommodation, specifically Sherbourne, was such nice accommodation and I made my friends for life there. The accommodation was clean, and we had no problems with it which made first year a lovely stay. Comparing Warwick’s on campus accommodation with other universities, I much preferred Warwick’s and it was at a much higher standard than other universities. The location of the buildings and the light rooms were really pleasant and made first year really fun.

With the beauty of a campus university like Warwick also means there are cities and towns very nearby. Coventry and Leamington Spa are just a bus ride away. A lot of nights out and where most 2nd and final year students live are these areas.

I hope this has helped to give a glimpse of what I loved about Warwick’s campus and why I came to Warwick. Good luck to all prospective students. This is such an exciting time in your lives and one I wish I could relive!
