Hey everyone. This is my first blog, hope you all enjoy it.
I thought my first attempt at this would be to explain why I returned to education and why I choose to enrol on 2+2.
Before deciding to return, I worked within customer services. I began my career as an office junior and eventually worked my way up to office supervisor. Throughout this period of me working, I realised that I was never satisfied with my job. I enjoyed socialising with customers and helping them out, but it was never enough. I wanted to help change the world, not sell car parts.
I began looking at possibilities, but still couldn’t decide what I wanted to do. After receiving some bad news within the family, I came to the realisation life’s too short. So, I left my job and signed up to do an access course. It was through this course I began to find my passion for politics and sociology. I then began searching for degrees. But became unsure what to do and where to go. Do I travel somewhere locally or move away? Whilst speaking to my tutor about this predicament she suggested 2+2. The 2+2 degree appealed to me because it incorporated three of my favourite subject’s (politics, sociology and health, welfare & social policy). Plus, Warwick was only a 40-minute drive from where I lived. The first year I decided to travel whilst I settled in and then perhaps look at accommodation. So, I applied, and the rest is history.
I am now in my second year, I have just selected my modules for year 3. Each subject has allowed me to explore new concepts and theories, around the functioning of society and its citizens. The course has challenged and certainly changed my opinions and viewpoints. The last few years have been amazing! I’ve met some fantastic people and learnt so much. I now live in Leamington, with two people I met on the course. I have also been given the opportunity to become an IT mentor and a student Ambassador. This course has so much to offer, I’m so glad I took the plunge and returned to education. My life has been opened to lots of new people and experiences.
I would highly recommend this course to anyone who is thinking of returning to education. The first two years ease you back into the process, which made it less daunting. The whole experience has been a lot easier than I anticipated. Everyone involved (both the College & University) are very supportive of you and encourage you to challenge yourself.
I hope this has been helpful. Thank you for checking it out. Until next time….
