URSS (Summer Research Project): Gender Inequalities in Egyptian Marriage Laws
Hello everyone! Hope everyone’s first month of university is going well. I cannot believe it’s already Week 5 (I’m so happy it’s reading week next week – I really need to catch up).
Over the summer, I did the URSS (Undergraduate Research Support Scheme) and I decided to do some research on my home country, Egypt. I was quite interested in the gender inequalities in Egyptian law as I knew that those were embedded in the law from my experience living back home, but I didn’t know much. I decided to focus on marriage law as that is an area of law that is quite important to a woman’s social status in Egypt.
I would definitely recommend participating in the URSS this year and that you consider applying. I had made a video with some more info on my project and some of my own tips if you do decide this is something that you would be interested in.
