Over the summer I completed an undergraduate research project supported by the Undergraduate Research Support Scheme (URSS). I blogged throughout the whole experience, and you can read all about it here, here, here, here, here, here and here.
To round off the whole experience and celebrate our achievements, on Wednesday we had the URSS Showcase. All participants’ posters were displayed in the Panorama room, and it was really exciting to read about everyone else’s research. Such a range of topics was covered and some people even went abroad! I was super excited to see my poster displayed alongside other fantastic research.
Along with the poster display, there were also several speeches, and excitingly I made one of them! It was a privilege to be asked to speak, and it was amazing to be able to talk about my URSS experience to other URSS students and staff. I also got some good feedback on my speech which was lovely!
Overall, the URSS showcase was a nice end to a great experience. I found completing some undergraduate research invaluable; I enjoyed it so much I am now considering doing a PhD in the future. Even if you aren’t sure you want to do further research, completing undergraduate research enables you to develop so many useful skills, and I would wholeheartedly recommend it.
