Three Things That Make Me Happy

Looking after your mental health is incredibly important, especially in times likes these. Today I want to share with you three simple things that make me happy. Maybe they’ll do the same for you!
I LOVE MUSICALS. When we did a terms worth of looking at musical films for one of the Film Studies core modules, I was in my element. There’s just something about them that makes me so happy. They certainly perk me up when I’m down! I love them in all forms- if it’s a musical I’m there! I cannot wait for the theatres to be able to open again so that I can hear the orchestra warming up and the beginning of an overture…
Following on from my last point, I also love music. I love the way that it has the ability to transfer you to another time or place. I always find myself listening to music when I’m feeling down. I love a variety of genres but if I had to choose decades I’d have to say that I especially enjoy music from the 1900s to the 1970s. As you can see, I have quite varied tastes!
3. Good Food
Now, I don’t even mean unhealthy food (although some of it is of course, everything in moderation) but just food that tastes good. I find that knowing I have something nice to eat for lunch/tea can really help me to get through a hard day. Perhaps that isn’t the best coping mechanism, but there you go! Treat yourself now and again- you deserve it.
