Things to do on Campus
Hi! It’s me again! So, today I want to talk to you about things you can do on campus. Though it may not seem it, there are a lot of things going on on campus that you may not realise occur. There are always events going on at the Arts Centre, but there are also events going on at the Dirty Duck, the TBar and also events planned by Warwick Presents and there’s often a lot more choice than you’d expect.
The Arts Centre is one of my favourite venues on campus (Not just because I work there). There are three cinema screens, a large hall (where graduation usually happens), a theatre and a number of other venues inside! What you may not realise is that the Cinema does get a lot of popular films, for example, James Bond, Spiderman and Dr Strange, amongst many other movies and the tickets are usually pretty reasonably priced. The Arts Centre is open to the public so you’ll often see a variety of people there. If going to see movies isn’t your type of thing, Butterworth Hall often has some pretty big shows going on, for example, Nish Kumar, Rhod Gilbert and Rob Brydon have all performed there, with a few big names coming later on in the year! The Arts Centre also has its newly opened restaurant Benugos, an Italian restaurant right at the entrance!
Alternatively, if you want a more student vibe, The Dirty Duck is the place to be. On Wednesdays, there is Karaoke (You’ll often find me there because my friend always sings a song) and there is also a Pub Quiz every Thursday. Even if you don’t go for these, the Dirty Duck is the place to be for good food and cheap drinks. They currently have new alcoholic slushies which are excellent to drink, three different ones, all fruity and all very refreshing, I would highly recommend them! There are also sometimes pretty good specials which they offer and a pretty good range of Vegan food!
TBar is always a good choice to go to, Juicy is on Fridays and if you don’t want to go to Juicy, the pool tables are right there for your entertainment. Now, due to deadlines and exams, I have not frequented those recently, however, it is one of my favourite things to do because it’s such a chilled way to socialise with your friends and with TBar right there, what more could you want!
Lastly, I want to mention Warwick Presents. Nearer the end of the year, Warwick Presents organises a wide range of events to celebrate the end of exams and more often than not, they are free! Just yesterday, there was a free Crystal Maze experience that my friends and I went to (We got 31 crystals, in case you were curious). It’s a lot of easy, chilled fun! They also have an inflatable obstacle course which I went to last year which was also great and so many more, so I would definitely recommend you go have a look!
So, that’s all from me for now. If you want to celebrate your exams without straying too far from campus, I would definitely take a look at what is on offer here because you’ll find a lot more than you realise and they’re things you can do rather spontaneously and those often leave the best memories!
