Things to do in and around Leamington Spa this summer

Now that most of us are exam free (hang in there to anyone who still has some to go!!), I thought I’d give some tips on what you could get up to in Leamington Spa this summer. Having lived here for two years, I feel like I’m familiar with some great spots, although I still have some exploring to do!
If the weather is nice:
Jephson Gardens
I’m sure if you live in or have been to Leamington, you are familiar with this great place. It’s a beautiful location for a walk, and there are loads of open green spaces and benches to relax on. There’s always loads of ducks, and if you’re like me – a dog lover, loads of dogs walking by! There’s also a café within Jephson, so you can grab a coffee or an ice cream if the weather is good!
The pump room gardens
This is basically the huge green space directly opposite Jephson Gardens. This area great for sunbathing or hanging out with friends, and there is a path around this area which is great for walking/running on. There are a number of cafes situated near this space.
Walk along the canal

In south Leamington, you can access a canal walk. Depending on which way you go, you can stumble across some great spots!
… Walk far enough and reach Warwick
Me and my friends did this last summer, and we really enjoyed ourselves. You can make a day of it!
… Walk the other way and find a riverside pub
Also a great find! It’s really nice to follow the path and see where it takes you, and you know you won’t get lost as it’s a straight path!
Go to Kenilworth
This is really close to Leamington, only a short drive or bus ride away, and is a really sweet town to explore. There is Kenilworth Castle, and you can walk around the remains of it. You can also chill out in the green spaces, and explore the local shops and cafes!
If the weather lets you down…
Go to the cinema
In Leamington there is the Vue cinema, which has really cheap ticket prices! The cinema is always a great rainy day trip.
Go to a nice cafe
There are so many in Leamington – while you have the standards – Café Nero, Costa, etcetera, there are some really nice small-scale cafes, such as Temperance and Procaffeinate in south Leamington.
Go shopping
There are some good ‘big’ stores here such as H&M, as well as loads of nice charity shops to explore! Make sure you explore the side streets as well as what’s on the main high street! Or, Coventry and Birmingham are a bus/train ride away. Coventry has a big Primark and Birmingham has the bullring which has pretty much everything!
Go out for a drink or nice meal
You really are spoilt for choice here, with loads of restaurants, pubs and bars in both North and South Leamington.
I hope this post has given you some ideas of things to do in Leamington this summer! Good luck to everyone still doing exams and essays!
