The New Normal
Hi everyone! Looks like we’re in this for the long run, huh? Here are things that have become the new normal and we need to anticipate this and adapt.
1. Zoom meetings
While the world economy is crumbling, Zoom investors must be having the time of their lives right now. Zoom is now a necessity. Lectures? Office Hours? Chatting with your distant relatives? Yoga classes? It’s now all in Zoom. I love Zoom meetings because I can be creative with my Zoom backgrounds and make people laugh whenever they see me in different backgrounds every single time.
2. Social distancing, hand sanitisers and washable face masks
Everywhere you go, there will be masking tapes around to ensure that you maintain your distance with people who are not in your household. Disposable face masks are out of stock, unless you’re one of the lucky ones. My face mask order from Amazon hasn’t arrived yet, even when I’ve ordered it early April. I would suggest to make your own face mask, or get some reusable ones from Etsy. They’re cheap, affordable and are delivered just days after you purchase it! I’m so happy when I finally got my face mask, it means that I have an additional layer of protection when I go out, and it gives me a bit of comfort when I do my grocery shopping and carrying out other outdoor activities.
3. Virtual events
Similar to point number one, everything will be done virtually. Warwick University is working on a Virtual Open Day for prospective students, so that you can have a feel of what it’s like to be in this university. Conferences will be held online amongst other events. Graduation, unfortunately, is suspended, but at this point, I wouldn’t mind, because it is indeed for the best.
After my exams, I will hopefully write a post on the good things that came out from this pandemic. Because really, this pandemic has brought out a lot of positive things. So if we could focus on this, while still adapting to the new normal, we will most definitely come out of this pandemic stronger and more resilient!
