The Best Pubs In and Around the University
Pubs are the best hang out spots when in uni and there are some amazing pubs on campus and in Coventry, Earlsdon and Leamington. When I was new to Coventry, I did not know many of these well-known pubs because I was an international student but after exploring and going out, I have some favourites that I go back to again and again for the drinks, ambience and food.
- Quids Inn Pub
Quids is a great student friendly pub in Coventry. It is one of the most affordable options and that is why it is always filled with a lot of people. There are times I have stood in short queues to get in but it is definitely worth it. The drinks menu at Quids has so many options with some amazing offers, you are sure to find something you like. For food, they do some of the best pizzas I have had in Coventry which are a must try. The atmosphere is great with music and the outdoor and terrace seating looks beautiful. This is one of my favourite pubs to go with my friend group.
- The Dirty Duck
Had a long work day and want to unwind on campus? The Dirty Duck is the place on campus to grab a drink and a good meal. It is very accessible because it is above the Student Union and is a student favourite. The chicken strip wrap is a total winner and there are many snack options available as well. The Dirty Duck is one has always followed the Covid restrictions very seriously with proper distancing, masks and NHS Test and Trace Venue check-in even when it is relatively busy.
- JD Wetherspoon
There are many branches of JD Wetherspoon in Coventry and Earlsdon. It is always a great place to go with lovely outdoor seating which especially looks good in the night and is perfect for celebrating occasions because it is lively but not loud. This is a fancier pub which is slightly more expensive than the others but it is worth it. The chips and gravy here are perfect and it is a good place to go for breakfast as well.
- Rileys Sports Bar Coventry
Rileys is a fantastic pub for watching live matches. They streamed the Euros and it is amazing to go with friends and watch the matches while drinking and having the mac and cheese bites 😀 They also have snooker tables, dart boards and table tennis which can be booked on an hourly basis and it is also very affordable. The atmosphere is very relaxed and chill and it makes for a fun place to hang out while playing with friends.
- Old Clarence Pub
The Old Clarence is a very affordable option with an excellent menu and brilliant ambience. The food is scrumptious and the drinks are cheap. It is a real value for money. They also stream matches and is always very busy so pre-booking a table well in advance is your best bet with them. They also have some offers sometimes which makes it one of the best options near the university.
These are some of the greatest must visit pubs near university. There are many more which I am sure many of you will discover yourself. Hope you all enjoyed this blog and maybe found you go-to hang out spot 😀
