Summer break plans. Ready? Let’s go!
Studying everyday is a good habit for students. Well, for me it is not necessarily (always) true. Staying whole day in front of my books or my laptop will not make me become an expert in my major, for sure. Instead, getting less productive it will highly likely to happen. We cannot force our brain to work too hard and push our physics to struggle everyday, can we? Therefore, it means nothing, but time to take a break. It is a perfect time, yes summer is coming back.
As a PhD student, unfortunately, we do not actually have summer breaks unless we request to have it. Yes, you are right, It is what I have planned, taking summer trip. While in the UK, as an international student coming from relatively far away, Indonesia, I need to spend as much time as possible to explore the UK. It has too many tourism places too mention. Since many said that Scotland and Wales are beautiful and worth visiting, There I am going to go. Wait, the point is plan your summer break to recharge your batteries. It does not really matter where you go really. This way, when the term starts, you will be completely ready with full power, and hopefully, full of motivation to study, to work, to learn, and to enjoy the lectures.
Spending time for some trips with friends is an excellent idea. We know that many of us are struggling and fighting to cope with Covid-19 challenges. Making bonding with friends or making new friends will help us less stressful facing the obstacles we may encounter in university life, isn’t it? Remember, university of Warwick offers a Wellbeing Service for students and staff that you can access anytime you need. Give it a try, talk to someone, and express your feeling will release your stress and make you fresh. Trust me, it works.
Another choice to spend summer break is doing some sports. The university of Warwick Sports Hub and Wellness still offers some free sports activity in the scheme of Rock Up. It is free for students and staff. Please check on the Sports Hub website. I am one of the Rock up activators for the Badminton. If you are interested and have no idea what it looks like and what to do to join, just send me a message and I will help. It is a good opportunity to make new friends and enjoy the summer break. I cannot wait to see you on the courts.
Last but not least, spending time in the Library is a great choice to try. Well, I cannot deny that sometimes we enjoy reading some books, either major related or just any books to enrich our knowledge. As you may already know, there are two computer labs downstairs next to the temporary entrance where you can use the computer, or just doing some works, or some readings there. I myself spend quite much time doing my work there. One of the reason is that it is close to the Library café, and the Gazebo where I can have lunch in my lunch break. .
