Hey there! I’m Simran- your new Politics with International Studies blogger! I’m in my final year and cannot come to terms with the fact that in less than a year I’ll have to leave “the bubble”. (You’ll soon find out that’s what we lovingly call the campus!) Just to introduce myself, I am Thai of Indian origin and attended an international school in Bangkok- in other words, I am a ‘Third Culture Kid’. I love travelling which was one of the reasons I decided to pursue higher studies in the UK as I would be able to explore a whole new continent. Why Politics at Warwick? Having witnessed the 2006 Thai coup d’état, I could not help but take an interest in political issues and the impact they have on our lives. Studying Politics, I believed, would provide me with the tools to critically view the world we live in. I chose to study the course at Warwick mainly because of its international focus and needless to say I have not been disappointed. Although moving abroad was daunting in the initial stages, I have found studying at Warwick both academically stimulating and personally enriching. I plan to use this blog to reflect on my experiences studying Politics and university life in general so that I can hopefully provide you with some insightful tips.
