Pre-uni To Do List

Hello everyone! The end of summer and the start of a new academic year is getting closer and closer. Although packing the car or suitcases for Moving In weekend isn’t quite around the corner yet, there a quite a few things you can start doing and preparing now. Here are a few ideas:
  • Start thinking about packing

It might be a bit too early to put your clothes in your suitcase just yet but have a look at your closet and see if you are missing anything. For some inspiration, have a look at my “10 Essential items to pack for university” blog post.

  • Learn how to use a washing machine

Although it’s not rocket science, I would highly recommend familiarizing yourself with doing your own laundry before leaving the comforts of your own home. Know which of your clothes can and cannot go in the wash together and which ones you can tumble dry.

  • Join Facebook groups
If you haven’t already, have a look on Facebook at the various groups the university has set up for Freshers in general and specific courses. This will allow you to stay in the loop! Don’t worry about being super active on any of the chats though – you’ll have plenty of time to meet everyone and have your questions answered in person.
  • Spend time with family and friends

Depending on how far away Warwick university is from home, you might not see your family and close friends for a while so make sure to get in some quality time with them before you leave. Use that time to discuss any feelings, worries and stress you might be feeling about starting university because chances are, your friends feel the same way and you can help each other out. Remember to take a few pictures so you can put them up in your room – very useful when you start to feel a little homesick!

  • Organize your files
Use this time to get all your important documents together. Having an electronic copy of your passport, driver’s license, national insurance number etc can come in very handy! And whilst you’re busy scanning all these papers, why not clean up all your files on your computer a little? Starting university with an organized and fresh desktop feels great!
  • Prepare for Freshers Week
Your first week at university will be packed with exciting activities so it helps to have a look at the programme in advance. There is a comprehensive overview on the Student Union website which will give you an idea of the activities you might want to take part in. I would definitely recommend going to both the Sports Fair and the Societies Fair! Also, have a think about which tickets you might want to buy before they go on sale.    Hope this helps! Let me know if I can help you guys out with your uni prep in any way 🙂
