New Year and a Fresh Start

As it goes for every year, there are some people who look back at the year with a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction, and another handful who have gone through some general rougher patches. Regardless, everyone comes out of each year with new experiences and life lessons to take forward with them. Every year, especially surrounding the holiday buzz and festivities, there is always a chance for a new fresh start- for those who feel like they have fallen back a bit to pick up the pace and get up again and keep pushing forward to reach their set goals and ambitions in life.

This year personally, I have found to be one of the tougher ones. Not only was it the ups and downs of embarking into the full blown independence of adulthood and learning to balance a multitude of things, but there was also a fair share of emotional beat downs and heartache. Regardless of this I always prefer to see the silver linings and positive life lessons from all of these negative occurrences and through it all, I learnt who my true friends were, the people I could rely on through thick and thin. I learned that taking risks is better than the what if’s and the possibilities of regretting lost opportunities. This time nearing the end of the year is normally the instances in which I do actually try to take time to reflect on everything that has happened in my life, not only in the previous year but over a course of the past couple of years. Whilst looking back I can really see how I have grown as a person and how much can change in a course of even a few months, let alone a year.

Being a third done with second year, I now know the flow of how my lifestyle and daily schedule is at university and I am ready to face 2017 with vigour and newly set goals and outlooks on what I want to achieve and how I want to achieve them. I won’t settle for being merely a spectator but will relish in the ability to be proactive and involved. In addition to this, friendships are one thing that I have always cherished and as many people say, the lifelong friends and relationships tend to be formed in University. With this being said I do plan to keep maintaining and strengthening the bonds I have with the people I am close with but I am also looking forward to continue meeting new amazing people along the way.
