There comes a time in any Warwick student’s life when they must face the prospect of life off campus. For some, this might be later, rather than sooner; nonetheless, it comes for us all. Whether you decide to reside in Coventry, or Leamington Spa, or even the quaint Kenilworth, you will need to consider your options in regards to study spaces.

I can only speak for Leamington, but let me reassure you: there are plenty of possibilities. If you wake up one morning and don’t have lesson, you might be persuaded not to travel to campus. That is when a nice study spot comes in handy.

There are the more popular ones, the aesthetic ones, or the ones that just about serve their purpose, aka just a desk.

Let me start with the safest option: the Leamington Study Grid. This one is for those who want an atmosphere similar to campus’. The Leamington Grid offers the University’s printing services and a few rooms with big windows and white interiors. The desks are spacious, and it’s got a PC area as well. Since it’s housed within the Leamington Town Hall, the location is very central and easily reachable from anywhere in Leamington. The Leam Grid is tried and trusted. Yes, you will be asked to leave round 5pm on the weekends, nevertheless, it is a productivity hub. It can get busy though, so you might want to book a desk.

Now, this other option is for the daring ones: the Leamington public library. Recently equipped with eduroam, the University network, it has become a very student friendly spot. A nice, and free, alternative to the Leamington Grid. It’s located by Pump Room Gardens, with windows overlooking it, so if you fancy studying in a greener environment this option is certainly for you. You will have to contend with Leamington locals on the weekend, however, because this is very much still a public library. It’s a wholesome family spot, what can I say.

If you prefer working with a nice, warm cup beside you, do not worry, I have some other spots in store for you. I’ve enjoyed studying in a place called Mill Street, right after the river. It doubles as a co-working space, so it’s popular with local professionals. They can rent spaces out and work from there. The whole space is very lively, and will surely satisfy anybody’s Instagram story needs, thanks to the super aesthetic set up which this it boasts.

More lowkey spots are interspersed throughout the rest of the town. You can opt for the more traditional study afternoon at the Starbucks in Leamington Priors, the shopping centre, or you can also check out any other of the coffee shops around town. Whatever strikes your fancy, really. A lovely indie coffee shop, more on the southern side of Leamington is Procaffeinate. It enjoys a lovely view of the canal from its terrace, the best spot to study or hang out during the warmer months.

In the end, however, you may just decide to hop on the bus and go to campus. The Library, after all, is truly where it’s at.
