It’s time to say goodbye

After the exams, I spent most of my time travelling around and spending time with my friends. We went to places such as Alton Towers, short trip around UK and I met up with my friends from other university and went to the city of lights and love – Paris.

I went on a short trip to Paris and visited famous attraction from the louvre museum to the Eiffel Tower to the Disneyland in Paris. My friend and I decided to travel using coach as it was cheaper (GBP 20 from London to Paris).

Here are tips about travelling to Paris. Always buy tourist 1-2 day pass. This pass enable you to tour around Paris using the same ticket so you do not have to keep buying tickets while travelling to different places. The train works in the same way as it does for London and it is pretty easy to get around since most of them understand English but it’s always good to know some French words.(for example, learning some French directions like, turn left, turn right, in front of…)

I recommend you to visit the Eiffel Tower in the morning, so when you climb up to the top, you can see the view better ( I went at night and I regretted it). Also, note that there a light show at night when the Eiffel tower lights up. It lit up at about 10pm when I was there but I think the timing of the light show changes depending on when the sky turns dark.

My second favorite place in Paris is the Louvre Museum. It is also the place where the famous Mona Lisa painting is. Just in case you get your hopes up, the Mona Lisa painting is actually kind of small (about A3?) and it would definitely be crowded so you might not be able to see it. The museum as a whole looks like a castle and looks exactly like a fairytale castle. My favorite painting from the museum is The Coronation of Napoleon. I could take picture of the whole painting because it was so huge that I could not take picture of it without someone passing by but it was definitely my favorite painting because it made me feel like I was watching the Coronation itself and not looking at the painting. I highly recommend anyone who is going to the museum to check out the painting.

Lastly, Disneyland Paris! There are two parks there Disneyland Paris and Disney Studios. I went for Disneyland with my friend. The entire Disneyland is definitely magical and a must-go to place for anyone who is a fan of Disney. However, the queues tend to be really long (I went on weekend) but I highly recommend you to go during weekdays to avoid waiting. Also, be sure to wait at the end for the fireworks show!

Another trip I went to is Alton Towers. Compared to Disneyland, the ride at Alton Towers are definitely much more exciting (in my opinion) however, the waiting time is just as crazy so be sure to bring a lot of water to hydrate yourself while waiting. Besides the rides, Alton Tower itself has many nice gardens and views too!

Lastly, the graduation dinner. As Eleanor Roosevelt once said “the future belongs to those who believe in the future of their dreams”. The graduation dinner was a great time to spend with your classmates before saying goodbyes and I had a fun time spending time with my friends.

Overall, this entire IFP experience is a fun one and I wish everyone the best in their future endeavors. Good luck and all the best!
