It’s all over!

Just a quick update to let you all know that I survived exams!

It’s been a term of hard work, late nights, and more coffee than I care to admit, but I’m finally finished with my first year exams! 5 exams in about 7 days was a huge shock to the system but it got me into the zone of working so don’t panic if you ever find you have exams really close together. After the first one was out the way, the next ones simply became a routine (not one I’d like to carry out for the whole year though!).

Another (slight) benefit to this week of exams is that it taught me about my own personal learning style. For quite a few years I’ve always sat down and thought ‘Hang on, how are you actually meant to revise?’ But now I have the answer! University offers you so much more than a common room or work rooms at school, it offers the 24 hour library (aka. My home for the week). After getting distracted so easily I decided to try working in the library for a few hours with a friend and it was the best decision I ever made! No noise, no distractions and no friends right down the corridor made for an environment where revising was all you could do. I’ve always thought learning in my room was the best thing for me, but this week has taught me that I’m so much more productive in an intense working environment. So make sure you test out different ways of working just before your exams because it could make a huge difference.

So while I spend my days (finally) relaxing and catching up on some much needed sleep, remember to find the best way to work for you. Try an hour or two in your local library or even in a park somewhere, you’d be surprised how much more work you can do when there’s nothing to distract you.

Good luck to those still sitting your exams, you can do it!
