It can be easy to underestimate how competitive and rigorous the process is for a degree apprenticeship application. It is important to remember that you will be competing against a diverse set of applicants with a variety of skills and backgrounds, so it is vital to make yourself stand out from the crowd. In this post, I will talk about ‘How you can best prepare yourself for the interview’.

First, it is a must to invest time to learn and research. The most important things you need to research are about the company that you are applying for and its business structure, the company’s values, and their mission. You should also carefully check the job description for the role you are applying for to understand what is expected from you as a prospective candidate. You must be clear about your unique skills and what you can bring to the organisation.

I will give a few examples questions that can be expected at the interview, these are only examples from my experience so make sure to be prepared for a varied set of questions.

Example questions:

Why do you want to work for us?

Why are you doing a degree apprenticeship instead of a full-time degree?

What are your strengths?

What are your weaknesses?

Why do you want to work in this field?

What are your career plans for the next 5/10 years?

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

How do you manage your time?

How do you work under pressure?

How do you finish before the deadline?

Also, make sure you have questions for the company. It’s important to show that you are interested to know more about the company and what they can offer. I will give a few examples of what you could ask the company below.

Example questions that you could ask the company:

What support is available for the apprentices for their development ?

Do you provide a mentor for the apprentices?

How can I develop  into different roles within the company ?

Do you have a training programme for the apprentices?

What are the company benefits ?

Make sure to dress smart and present yourself with confidence. I am sure if you prepare well and invest the time you will get the position that you deserve!

GOOD LUCK!
