My name is Ray and welcome to my first Blog, I am currently in the 3 year of my Social Studies degree as a part time mature student.
Having retired in 2017 on reaching 65 I was looking for something to keep the old grey cells active. My youngest daughter was studying at Coventry University and I would proof read her assignment and have many discussions about her studies. She graduated in November 2019 with a 2.2 and is now studying at Warwick for her MA. It was her that made me aware of the opportunity to study as a mature student through the Centre for Lifelong Learning.
I have been married for 48 years and have 2 daughters aged 44 and 42 and a grandson aged 21 and a granddaughter aged 9.
My interests are varied but include sports only watching and music. My musical interests are Pipes and drums, blues, rock and folk. For 10 years I was the bass drummer in a pipe band. I have followed a group for almost 40 years and was at their last ever concert in August last year when after 45 years they called it a day. The group was Runrig. I also collect original Noddy memorabilia.
My career until I retired was varied with Military service, Royal Mail, self-employed and working within the 3 emergency services in several roles.
What I have learnt over the years is that there is no such thing as a Silly Question as there will be some who has the answer.
I am also an ambassador for CLL and enjoy this role.
