Happy winter break
Apologies for the gap in between my blogs. I have been campaigning in the election and also been going through some personal issues and this blog had to take a bit of a back seat for a week or so.
It is now the winter break. I don’t celebrate Christmas as I am not a Christian and prefer to celebrate a winter solstice type of festival. It is important to remember that no one has a perfect holiday, and you should not feel under any pressure to buy gifts you cannot afford or spend time with people you do not like, or have to feign having a good time. This break is for you to relax if you’ve been working hard over term one, or catching up with work, if like me, you have got a bit behind.
I have three summative assessments due in January. My IATL module was badly effected by illness and the strike by lecturers and seminar tutors, so they have put on an extra two workshops and extended the deadline by a further two weeks. This is a boon as the original deadline was quite close to another piece of work.
Overall I am looking forward to doing my summative assessments as I’ve deliberately tied to modules together so I can research one topic instead of two, and the sociology research I have to do I have chosen to study a game I play, investigating freemium games.
I’m especially eager to get my IATL module assessment done as I intend to develop my own ideology, or at least advance a current one in to the 21 century as all the current ideologies have failed us in some way during the 20 century. Unfortunately for my generation and younger, we now have a government that is not as committed to tackling climate change as it should be, which not only effects everyone on the planet, but our health and well-being as well. Still, democracy never stands still.
So happy Saturnalia/ Winter solstice everyone. My next blog will be in about two weeks. Enjoy yourself, it’s later than you think.
