Graduation 2017

It feels like yesterday that I first stepped foot onto Warwick university as a wide-eyed and fresh-faced first year student. And yesterday marked my final day as an undergraduate student. It honestly hasn’t properly sank in yet that I won’t be coming back to Warwick this autumn- despite already having an emotional goodbye with some of my closest friends at university as well as completely emptying out my room. It’ll probably feel more real come September and I’m sat at an office desk as opposed to floor 5 of the library or the PAIS common room (actually no, floor 5 and the common room is reserved for exam time in term 3!).

Regardless, yesterday was an emotional time for me. Despite already finding out my grades beforehand, there’s something about the graduation ceremony itself that makes you feel like you reached another milestone in your life. Maybe its everyone applauding for you, getting to wear the robe, or just spending time celebrating officially with friends and family. Although, I’m not going to lie, I expected to go up on stage, shake the Vice Chancellors hand, and receive a fancy rolled-up diploma. Spoiler Alert: You don’t get one. All you get is a piece of paper.

Anyways, they say a picture speaks a thousand words so I’ll go ahead and share some of the pictures I took from yesterday. The whole day was very tiring so I didn’t take as many pictures as I would have liked to.

To everyone starting uni this September, I just want to say that the three (or four, for some) probably seems like ages away. But it honestly isn’t. Trust me, the time will past by so fast so remember to make the most out of it. When your time comes to go on stage and collect your hard earned degree, you won’t necessarily remember all the essays or exams you completed but will remember the memories you created trying out new things- whether it being society involvement, travelling, or doing whatever it is you enjoy with your new friends! And on that note, I wish everyone a great three years ahead!
