Get to know me tag – #10 questions

Hello everyone!

My name is Maria and I am a chemistry fresher at Warwick. Instead of introducing myself in the classic, a-bit-lengthy paragraphs I thought it would be more fun to do the “get to know me tag” and answer 10 questions about myself.

Ready? Let’s go!

#1 Where are you from?

I come from Poland. Until September I’d never lived anywhere else than in my family home in Warsaw. I am 100% Polish and to anticipate your questions – yes, I love pierogi and barszcz.

#2 Why did you chose chemistry?

I chose chemistry because it was the subject, I enjoyed most at school. I always found it most interesting and I loved doing experiments in the lab. To reveal something about myself – I strongly believe that there must always be some kind of order in the world and I guess that chemistry attracted me with its neat principles and organized particles.

#3 What programme did you do in high school?

I am a *proud* IB graduate. I finished IB in a high school in Warsaw and my HL subjects were Chemistry, Mathematics and English B. It was a lot of hard work, but it was also a developing experience, which I really appreciate now.

#4 What do you do in your free time?

In my free time I like to cook. I love trying out new recipes and I am specifically very keen on baking. I also enjoy hanging out with friends and am a huuuuge board games fan. Apart from that I also consider travelling as one of my favourite hobbies, however, due to covid-19 I haven’t been able to do much of that lately.

#5 Cats or dogs?

CATS! To say that I am a cat lady would be an understatement. Not that I have anything against dogs – they are nice too, but have you ever seen those cute cat videos? My heart is melting even when I think about those sweet little paws. My cat is a European shorthair and her name is Mija – she is on the cover picture of this post. Isn’t she beautiful?

#6 Arial or Times New Roman?

TNR is obviously the only correct font. Sorry, Arial lovers but I will fight you on this one.

#7 What is your favourite drink?

My favourite drink is green tea. In fact, I like it so much I drink approximately 1.5 l of green tea a day. Some of my favourites are jasmine, aloe and pomegranate green teas.

#8 Do you untie your shoes when you take them off?

Yes, I always untie my shoes. I guess this says a lot about the type of person I am but just so you know – if you are the “effortlessly-cool-slipping-your-shoes-on” person, I totally appreciate the extra 30 seconds you get from life.

#9 Where do you live during the terms?

I live in campus accommodation. My hall of residence is Westwood.

#10 What is your favourite module?

I am really enjoying all of my modules, but so far Physical Chemistry has been my favourite. I love both the kinetics and quantum mechanics lectures.
