Love me not – MJ Aldridge 8.5/10

  • This book is a contemporary thriller police chase which always keeps you on the edge of your seat.
  • It reads primarily from the perspective of the detective DI Helen Grace yet also gives an insight from the criminal’s viewpoint.
  • I only discovered after completing the book that it was part of a series and actually book 7, so I am now starting from the beginning and am currently on chapter 4 of Eeny Meeny!

It ends with us – Colleen Hoover 7/10

  • I read this book primarily due to the attention it was receiving from social media. I found it an easy read and a bit predictable at times but by the end of the novel I needed to discover what path the lead protagonist Lily Bloom would take.
  • The book has a powerful plot and the messages portrayed around the themes of emotional and physical abuse are insightful and raise awareness.
  • You almost feel as if you are riding along an emotional rollercoaster as you follow the relationship between different characters in the novel.

One of us is lying – Karen M. McManus 6.5/10

  • This book is one that leaves you guessing, and the plot unravels the more you read on.
  • It is centred around a murder and discovering which high school student is responsible. What’s interesting is that we ae provided with the thoughts and lives of each suspect which leaves you constantly predicting who the culprit is.
  • Although I enjoyed this book, I am yet to read the second book “one of us is next”, but it is on my to read list.

The After series – Anna Todd 9/10

  • Recently I have binged the first four books from the After series; After, After We Collided, After We Fell and After Ever Happy. It is centred around a young girl called Tessa starting college and follows her new friendships but specifically her relationship with nonconformist Hardin Scott.
  • Much like ‘It ends with us’ you really get an insight into real relationships and become intrigued with how the characters’ lives will play out.
  • Also, I much preferred the books to the films!

I hope you have enjoyed my book reviews, please let me know what you think of them if you get a chance to read them! I would also love to know what you have been reading in your spare time this summer!

Until next time, Kaitlyn x
