After a long and unexpected academic year finally comes to an end, I thought it would be nice to consider some fun activities and places that I hope to enjoy in Warwick/Leamington once I finish my exams next week. These are some different options to the usual Spoons and Old Library, and so hopefully these suggestions also give you something to look forward to.

  • The Open Arms

First on the list has to be the Open Arms, which is an outdoor pub situated on the grounds of Warwick Castle. Despite the name of the university, I have only once before visited the quaint town of Warwick and so look forward to exploring there some more when I have some more time. This open-air beer garden offers both an outdoor dining and drinking experience with a view and would be the perfect place to spend a warm summer evening with your housemates.

  • Leamington Pedalos

For anyone that’s spent some time in Leamington, you must have visited Jephson’s Gardens. Hidden to the right side of the park is a lake and a pedalo boat hire, called the Leam Boat Centre, which would be perfect for a day-time activity with your uni friends. I would probably stop off at a supermarket on the walk down to pick up some snacks to have a picnic afterwards too.

  • Turtle Bay Bottomless Brunch

Having never gone to a bottomless brunch before, this is definitely on my to do list. Turtle Bay is known to do a really affordable one, with a good selection of cocktails and food. If you are ever in Leamington, and looking for a place to get some food and alcohol, I would definitely recommend heading to Turtle Bay. They also offer some great vegetarian and vegan options!

  • Mini Golf

Situated in Warwick town, Golden Putter Mini Golf offers a cheap and fun activity for you and your friends to enjoy. If you are already there exploring the town, it is definitely worth a visit.

  • Open-Air Cinema

Also at Warwick Castle, Luna Cinema has opened up an open-air cinema screen, showing classic films from Grease to Star Wars almost every night of June. Check out the website to see what films are being shown and how to book your tickets.

  • 1 Mill Street

This is the newly-opened work space in Leamington Spa, offering students a place to chill with friends, get a coffee or finish off that final essay you have been meaning to work on. There is free wifi and so is the perfect place to finish any last minute revision or preparation work for your summer internship. The inside is also very aesthetic and so ideal to take a new Instagram picture!
