Coventry: UK City of Culture 2021. My Top 5 Things To Do
Coventry has been chosen to be the UK’s City of Culture for 2021! There are lots of ways you can get involved in this project through Warwick if you are interested: https://warwick.ac.uk/about/cityofculture/getinvolved/
Here is a list of my personal top 5 things to do in Coventry:
Coventry Transport Museum
Unfortunately, I forgot to take a photo when I visited to include here (the museum kept me too busy!) but this is a definite place you have to visit as a Warwick student.
They have some funny “do not touch” signs so keep an eye out for them!
Is it even a Coventry list of things to do if the transport museum isn’t included?
This is an organised weekly 5k run (Saturday 9AM) taking place in the Coventry War Memorial Park. Getting up early on a Saturday morning may seem horrible, but I was completely hooked after my first run. It is a great opportunity to just freshen up and even meet some locals to get out of the Campus bubble.
An awesome idea for something to do with your flatmates!
Escape room Coventry
Another idea for something to do with your friends. We did the “Jungala” room which was a lot of fun and a good beginner choice.
Coventry City Centre
There is so much you can do in the city centre. Ice skating, a pizza hut buffet, a spontaneous trip to Ikea, Riley’s sports bar for a game of pool or just watching some of the street entertainment (dancers, magicians etc) are just some of my personal favs.
(As an extra point: a waterpark has recently opened in Coventry, unfortunately, I didn’t have a chance to go – but I would recommend it- it looks fantastic!)
Enjoy Coventry – a city moving its people through culture!
