‘Campus Unis Aren’t For Me’
I nearly refused to come and visit Warwick University!
Adamant that I was not going to like a campus, I almost wrote Warwick off.
The minute I came to visit, I changed my mind. Rather than feeling isolated, I felt like Warwick was an engaging community that would be the best place for me to focus on my degree and enjoy my social life.
Having finished my first year and being able to reflect on this, I definitely made the right decision. Here’s why Warwick works for me, someone who adamantly demanded she would hate campus life!
Being so close to my lectures and seminars in my first year was something I truly appreciated. Late nights and early starts at Uni are often difficult, but being so close to your lectures makes it slightly easier!
When people said they enjoyed seeing their friends around the corner as a benefit of campus, I didn’t get it. Why would I want to constantly run into people?
This isn’t the case! The campus just makes me feel like my friends are nearby if I need them, but I don’t find it stifling at all.
Being on a campus reminds me I’m at uni to get a degree. At some point or another in your first year, you will feel overwhelmed. Being on a campus helped me stay on track.
