Sugheson Nagarajan
Economics
Hello there everyone.
My name is Sugheson but you can call me Sugus (a popular Swiss candy). Hence, it is no surprise as to why people say I’m one of the sweetest person around campus. I am a first-year undergraduate student studying Economics at the University of Warwick. I am from this beautiful and lovely island that is located at the north of Peninsula Malaysia called Penang Island. She is also known as the Pearl Of The Orient for her beautiful and exotic holiday destinations and she has been voted as one of the Top 10 places for street food in the world. Much love for my hometown.
“The master-economist must possess a rare combination of gifts …. He must be mathematician, historian, statesman, philosopher—in some degree. He must understand symbols and speak in words. He must contemplate the particular, in terms of the general, and touch abstract and concrete in the same flight of thought. He must study the present in the light of the past for the purposes of the future. No part of man’s nature or his institutions must be entirely outside his regard. He must be purposeful and disinterested in a simultaneous mood, as aloof and incorruptible as an artist, yet sometimes as near to earth as a politician.”
This quote by John Maynard Keynes serves to remind me as to why I chose to read Economics. It is an art by itself that requires multi-dimensional skill sets and where else would a better place to acquire these skills sets, if not at one of the best Economics Department in the UK and the world, at Warwick University. This blog of mine aims to document, analyze and reflect upon my journey and experiences throughout my 3 years in Warwick. I hope to keep it funny, engaging and as genuine as possible because this is my story that I am proud to tell.
Besides that, I am a huge football fan (That is why I chose to further my studies in the UK). I am a diehard Liverpool fan. #YNWA. I am also a huge hip-hop head. I love the music and the culture, and I am like a huge Drake fan since the age of 15. But I largely grew up listening to Eminem and 50 Cent. I am a member of the Warwick Public Speaking Society and Warwick Economics Society. Being an international student, I am excited to offer you a different but sincere perspective of life of a student at Warwick university and I hope that you find my writings pleasant, enjoyable and informative.
Cheers,
Sugheson.
