A Comedy of Errors: A Day Trip to Stratford-Upon-Avon
Along with doing a bit of work (here’s what I aimed to do over the holidays) it’s been so nice to take a couple of days off and have some days out at home with my family. I live quite close to Derbyshire, and have especially enjoyed visiting Bakewell where there are some nice little shops and beautiful countryside!
There are also some lovely places around campus to visit for the day, like Leamington Spa, Kenilworth, Warwick and Stratford-Upon-Avon. During last term I went to Stratford and it was such a great day out!
For me, the easiest way to get there is by train as there are some direct trains from Leamington to Stratford. There is also a bus, but unfortunately the Stagecoach bus pass doesn’t get you as far as Stratford; I learnt that lesson the hard way! The train station in Stratford is about a five minute walk from the town centre, and although Stratford isn’t very large there are plenty of cute shops and cafés!
My favourite area of Stratford is around the river, where you can explore some gardens, watch the canal boats and visit the Royal Shakespeare Company theatre. When I visited we went to see by Aphra Behn and it was amazing! The cast were so talented and I loved the staging; the play is set during a carnival and there were some fantastically vibrant scenes. I definitely wanted to join in with the dancing at some points!

It was the best little day trip, and lovely to explore more of our surrounding area!
