Hello everyone, I hope you all are having a fantastic new year and are trying your best to keep up with your new year resolutions 😛 For those of you who already gave up on your resolutions, here are 5 things that I feel we all should be doing that would contribute towards a more holistic lifestyle.

  • Art

I know, I know! Everyone is not artistic and neither was I until I actually tried it out. I am not telling you to be the next Vincent van Gogh, just try to find what attracts you the most. It could be something as fundamental as good lettering or something more convoluted as paintings. I started off with some mini canvas paintings and mandalas. The reason why everyone should indulge in art is purely because of how therapeutic it is. I am sure once you have gone through enough tutorials, you will find a way to learn and express yourself through even the most basic art styles.

  • Yoga and Meditation

Yoga and meditation have kept me going through so many things and I know for a fact it will help you all out there. Even if you have specific work outs, a 20-minute yoga and meditation session any time of the day (preferably morning) will energize you. Meditation is food for the soul and it works wonders to calm down anxiety and eliminate over-thinking. Doing even just the basic asanas and breathing exercises is enough to notice positive changes in you.

  • Decluttering you space

There are days when I just cannot seem to focus on anything at all and something as basic as cleaning my room helps so much. The best, most productive start of the day is by making you bed. Decluttering the space around us helps with clarity in our minds which helps us focus better and perform better. Oh, and after you are done cleaning you room, display some of your artwork that you just finished, I am sure it is absolutely amazing! 😀

  • The 20:20 rule

With the lectures being conducted online, our screen time is at an all time high. The 20:20 rule is that after every 20 minutes of screen time, look at a distant object or simply close your eyes for 20 seconds. This helps relax the eye muscles and prevents fatigue. What I do in addition to this rule is that I try to reduce my unnecessary screen time by not scrolling through social media sites for long durations. Another good thing would be to eat some carrots! 😛

  • Be thankful

Each night before going to sleep, remind yourself of one thing that you were thankful for that day. If you maintain a journal or a diary, write this down as well. In such uncertain times, it is a good idea to slow down our thoughts and remind ourselves how lucky we all are.

And that is all from my side. I hope you all enjoyed reading the blog and it motivated you all in one way or another to do few of these things.

Bye! 😊
