5 Steps to Get Things Done

Whilst a much-needed break is just around the corner, there’s no doubt most of us still have a handful of upcoming deadlines left. Here are 5 steps to keep you going in the final sprint up to the X-mas holidays!

1.     1.  BE CLEAR ON YOUR GOALS

Write down 2-3 goals you want to complete today. Make them actionable, specific and achievable. If you have goals on your to-do list that don’t meet these requirements – break them down into baby steps! 

2.  ONE THING AT A TIME

Now you have your 2-3 goals at the ready, pick one to tackle first. Although juggling 3 things at once might make you feel busy, rather than dividing your attention and ending the day with 3 half/badly-done tasks, it’s much more efficient to focus on one until the task is completed!

3. MISE EN PLACE

Whether it’s taking 15 minutes to clean your desk and get your laptop out or walking to the library, we need everything in its place. This way you can make sure 20 minutes of work isn’t 20 minutes spent looking for your highlighters! 

*TIP : do Step 1 – 3 the night before, if you want to get straight to work! *

4. GET STARTED

Often this is the hardest part. Set a 25-minute timer, put your phone on silent somewhere you can’t see it and get to work! Hopefully, after you’ve got stuck into the work for 25 minutes it’ll be a lot easier to just keep going!

5. REFLECT

Tick off your item from your to-do list and let yourself be proud for a minute! Take time to step back and analyse what’s working and not working for you in order to optimise your system and get things done!
